Today's Scripture:
She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish.
1 Samuel 1:10
Every woman grows up with dreams and expectations. Hannah was no different. In here era and culture, women were valued for their ability to produce children. So Hannah had probably grown up dreaming of the children she'd raise and love and call her own. Life hadn't turned out as Hannah had expected. Year after year, she remained barren. She had a husband who adored her, but her dreams of children hadn't come true. Over the years, the pain of life not turning out the way she expected apparently brought some bitterness into Hannah's soul. That was here frame of mind when she visited the temple and began to pray. As she silently talked to God, she didn't hide her feelings. She let her tears and her emotions pour out. When was the last time you let it all pour out to God? Are you in need of that talk with and if so what are you waiting for?
Many women, like Hannah, face unfulfilled dreams and disappointments. For whatever reasons, their lives aren't turning out as they expected. That kind of discouragement can gnaw at a woman's heart. Often when a woman's heart is hurting, she's tempted to avoid God but continue to act as if everything is okay.
When you face a disappointment - whether it is a long-term heartache or a brief pain- know that God cares.
He understands your feelings. You can follow Hannah's example by going to God and pouring your heart out before him. Be as intense as you want. Go to him with an honest heart, no matter what feelings you have.
Selah people' and friends never hold anything back from God when you're talking to him. Like Hannah, enjoy having a relationship with God so free that you can talk to Him about anything.
"Let today be the day that we re-introduce ourselves to our best friend and really tell Him all about our troubles."
