September 19, 2009 ~ The Joys of Service

Where is God calling you to serve?

Today's Scripture:

God, with his mercy, gave us this work to do, so we don't give up.

2 Corinthians 4:1

Go to your local elementary school on the day of a holiday party to check out the power of volunteerism in action. Chances are that you'll find halls swarming with men and women who want to help. Or notice all the people behind the scenes at a church or community barbecue or fund-raiser. Watch their faces, and you'll probably notice that they're having a great time.

Most women have areas of service in their lives. Whether it's church or in the community, women tend to enjoy using their talents and skills to support events and organizations.

When women get involved, things happen.

Women often have these opportunities to help others not because of chance but because God has given the situations to them. God has a purpose and a plan for your life. Sometimes those areas are part of that. Through serving, you can have an impact on the lives of men, children, and other women. Your commitment and kindness might be an example to someone else of how kind and committed God is. Your willingness to help might show someone how God can help him or her. Seeing you using your abilities might encourage others to give their time and talent too.

Your involvement doesn't just benefit others. God gives you these areas to help through his mercy. You're not only doing good things for others, but you also reap profit. As you help others, you'll find that God rewards you in interesting, intriguing, and fun ways.

Selah people' and friends the next time you receive an opportunity to serve, enjoy it. Remember that it might be something God has placed in your life to improve your life and the lives of those around you.

"God gives us gifts and I encourage each of you to answer His call wherever it takes you. Be His hands, feet and mouth to bring Christ to others in the world."
