September 24, 2009 ~ Go, Team!

Are you on God's team and are you following His plan?

Today's Scripture:

You are not the same as those who do not believe. So do not join yourselves to them. Good and bad do not belong together. Light and darkness cannot share together.

2 Corinthians 6:14

Kit and Michael enjoy inviting people to their home to play games. But they don't usually play on the same team. Kit chats during games and may not even notice when it's her turn. Michael, on the other hand, constantly plans strategy
and watches others' moves. Kit's purpose is to just have fun, Michael's focus is to win. Michael and Kit love each other, but they don't like to pair up.

In a sense, when you believe in God, it's like being on a team. "God's Team!" You and other members of the team share similar goals and ten to focus on the same direction: obeying and following God while on earth. At times the goals you have may not be compatible with the focus of those who do not believe as you do. For instance, one man wanted to follow God with his whole life, but he teamed with other businessmen to start a restaurant chain. His goal was to make a good living. His partners agreed but were more ruthless. They decided their restaurant should be know for sexual permissiveness and exploitation of women. The man who wanted to follow God knew this philosophy was morally wrong. He was on a team that had a focus different from his, so he faced some tough decisions. You probably know the chain I speak of.

You needn't avoid people who don't follow God. The Bible encourages those who serve God to have friendships and relationships with those who don't know God.

However, for the closest friendships and relationships in life, men and women alike do best to stick with people who believe as we do.

Having our Home' team be truly God's team!

Selah people' and friends think about who the greatest influences are in your life. Don't hesitate to spend more time developing your closest relationships.

"May we each rededicate ourselves to building up God's team and all those He gives us to mentor."
