January 29, 2011 ~ The Land of Hope

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"...I've pitched my tent in the land of hope..."

Acts 2:26, Message

TODAY'S WORD:

Where have you pitched your tent today? In other words, what are you expecting to happen in your life this year? What kind of attitude do you have? If your thoughts are stuck and you're focusing on what's wrong or what's not working, then it's time to dig up your tent stakes! It's time to pack up your belongings and move out of the land of discouragement. It's time to move out of the "Not-going-to-happen" subdivision and move out of "Can't-do-it-ville." It's time to pack your bags and move into the land of hope, faith and expectation!

Selah people' and friends every time you catch a negative thought and choose to dwell on God's promises, it's like you are packing your bags. Every time you declare God's faithfulness, you are taking a step in the right direction. The Bible says that those who hope in the Lord will never be put to shame. As you turn your focus toward Him, you are pitching your tent in the Land of Hope — a land where His peace, blessing and victory reign forever more. Join me as we move ourselves and out attitudes to higher ground.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, thank You for ordering and directing my steps. Thank You for taking me to the land of hope! I choose to set my mind on You, knowing that You are faithful. I release the past and invite You to fill me with Your peace, blessing and victory today and always. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

In Christ service,
Patrick

January 28th, 2011 ~ You Haven’t Seen Anything Yet!

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him"

1 Corinthians 2:9

TODAY'S WORD:

Today's verse is really an encouragement for all of us to raise our level of expectancy! It's like God is saying to us, "You think you're blessed? You haven't seen anything yet!" And I'm sure God has been good to you, but He also has things for your future that, if He told you right now, would boggle your mind. You wouldn't even believe it.

If you would have told me some twenty four years ago while I was a Swansboro high school senior that God was going to move me from the coast to the country and call me to go back to school and become an ordained minister, an make me a pastor of Selah Christian church and allow me to serve so many people in this community as a Christian leader and counselor to all ages, races and economic and belief levels I would have said, "You've totally lost your mind!" At the time, I could not even fathom that! Friend, that is how God wants to bless you in your future. He wants to overwhelm you with His goodness and with things so wonderful you can't even fathom it!

Selah people' and friends today, get ready for increase. Get prepared for promotion. This year is the year to step into blessings you can't even imagine. Keep believing, keep obeying His Word and keep your heart and mind open to what He has for you because you haven't seen anything yet!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, today I raise my level of expectancy. I choose to take the limits off of my thinking. I know that You are able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all I could ever ask, think or imagine. Thank You for the blessing You have in store for me in 2011! In Jesus' Name. Amen."

In Christ service,
Patrick

January 25, 2011 ~ Step in to Your Season

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

“Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart”

Galatians 6:9

TODAY’S WORD:

This year, I believe, is going to be a year of great harvest for many people. Maybe you’ve been facing some difficulties. Remember, great difficulties lead to great victories. Maybe you’ve felt like the storms of life have been blowing against you, trying to hold you back. I believe this year that the winds are changing direction, and now they are going to start propelling you forward. Due season is coming. It’s not time to sit back. It’s not time to let up. It’s time to press forward. It’s time to rise up! Don’t grow weary while doing good. Keep doing good and don’t lose heart because it’s your time, and it’s your season!

Selah people’ and friends I challenge you by faith begin to declare this day, this hour, this minute, “2011 is my year! I’m stepping into a new season. I’m letting go of what didn’t work out. I’m putting on a new attitude and enlarging my vision. I’m going to go into this year with a new fire and greater expectancy. I’m pressing forward to step into my season!”

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

“Heavenly Father, thank You for the truth of Your Word which sets me free. I declare by faith that my due season is here. I will stand strong, I will keep believing, I will keep praying, I will stay faithful to Your Word. Thank You for the harvest of blessing in store for me in my future. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

In Christ service,
Patrick

January 23, 2011 ~ Get Ready!

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

“Get ready! This is the day the Lord will give you victory...!”
Judges 4:14

TODAY’S WORD:

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut and go into another year coasting on auto-pilot, expecting the same thing: same problems, same struggles and the same income. But God is a God of increase. He wants us to rise higher and continually grow and reach new levels. What I sense in my spirit is that 2011 is going to be an exceptional year; a year for you to see promises come to pass; a year for you to accomplish your dreams. It’s going to be a year of surprises, and God is going to amaze you with His goodness! Won’t you join me in a positive outlook on what He has planned for us?

Selah people’ and friends maybe there’s an area in your life that you’ve struggled with for a long time. It seems like you just can’t get ahead. You need to get ready. This is the year things are going to change. God is about to release His favor in a greater way. You’ve sown the seeds. You’ve planted. You’ve watered. You’ve been faithful. Now you’re about to come into harvest. Get ready and begin to declare by faith, “This is my time for breakthrough! This is my season! This is my ‘above and beyond’ year, and I receive victory in Jesus’ name!”

A PRAYER FOR TODAY:

“Father God, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness in my life. Today, I choose to take the limits off of my thinking and lift my eyes to You. Help me to see the good things You have in store for my future. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

January 20, 2011 ~ Bring Out the Best

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"...Love is kind..."

1 Corinthians 13:4

TODAY'S WORD:

You may have heard this verse many times before, but one translation says that "love looks for a way to be constructive." In other words, kindness isn't just about being nice; it's looking for ways to improve someone else's life. It's bringing out the best in others.

When you start your day, don't just spend time thinking about yourself or how you can make your own life better. The more I look at my life as a Disciple I continue to try and find ways I can be more like Christ. I challenge each of us to think about ways we can make someone else's life better, too! Ask yourself, "Who can I encourage today? Who can I build up?" You and I have something to offer those around us that no one else can give. Someone in your life this very moment needs your encouragement. Someone in your life needs to know that you believe in them! We are responsible for how we treat the people He's placed in our lives. He's counting on us to bring out the best in our family in our friends and in our community.

Selah people' and friends today, ask the Lord to give you creative ways to encourage those around you. As you sow seeds of encouragement and bring out the best in others, God will send people along your path that will build you up, too. Keep showing kindness so you can move forward into the blessing and freedom He has for you!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, thank You for loving me. Thank You for believing in me and always building me up. I ask that You show me creative ways to encourage and build up the people around me. Help me be an example of Your love today and always. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

January 19, 2011 ~ The Greatest Thing

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love"

1 Corinthians 13:13

TODAY'S WORD:

Spiritual maturity isn't measured by how long you've been a Christian, how much you know, or how often you go to church. Spiritual maturity is measured by the way you treat other people. It's measured by the love you allow to operate in and through you.

1 Corinthians 13 gives us a picture of what love looks like. I often share this text during the wedding ceremonies I officiate. I explain to those present it was not about a wedding at all but about how the people were getting along and treating one another. When we are walking in love, we treat other people with courtesy and respect. In other words, are you kind to the person at the checkout counter that may be moving too slowly? Are you gentle when you are driving down the highway and someone cuts you off? Are you patient with your family and coworkers? These are all characteristics of love. The Bible tells us that love is patient. It is kind. It does not envy; it is not proud. It is not rude. Love is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrong. Love never fails.

Selah people' and friends notice that these characteristics don't have anything to do with feelings. Love is a choice. You can choose to walk in love toward people even when you don't feel like it! Today, look for ways to cultivate the greatest thing in your life — love! Let love grow in you because it is the sign of spiritual maturity and opens the door for God to operate in and through you.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, thank You for working in my life. Thank You for loving me so that I can show love to others. Keep me close to You and help me be an instrument of love everywhere I go. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

January 17, 2011 ~ Press Through

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you"

Matthew 7:7

TODAY'S WORD:

In Mark chapter five, there was a woman who had been sick for twelve years. The doctors gave her no hope. But she heard that Jesus was passing through her town. Something deep down on the inside was saying, "This is your season. This is your time to get well." In the natural, when she saw all the people around Him, she thought, "I'll never get to Him. It's so crowded and I'm weak." She almost missed her season. But instead of dwelling on those negative thoughts, instead of looking at her situation, she started reminding herself, "If I can just get to Jesus, I will be whole." She made the choice to turn her thoughts in the right direction and was empowered to take a leap of faith. She pressed through the crowd until she got just close enough to touch the edge of Jesus' robe. Instantly, she was made whole.

Jesus said in Mark 5:34, "Daughter, your faith has made you well." Notice it's our faith that activates God's power. We have to press through our thoughts, press through our circumstances, press through the crowd and obstacles until we touch Him.

Selah people' and friends today, with every step you take, God is drawing closer to you. He'll meet your faith with His miraculous power so you can embrace the victory He has waiting for you!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, I come to You today with an open and humble heart. I ask You to fill me with Your strength, peace and joy so that I can press through to victory today. Show me the good plan You have for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

In Christ service,

Patrick
