September 12, 2009 ~ In Control

Regardless of your party affiliation we know who really is in control!

Today's Scripture:

The Lord can control a king's mind as he controls a river; he can direct it as he pleases.

Proverbs 21:1

Imagine you're at work and friends visit your house. If your home is "smart-wired," a security camera will flash a picture of who's at your front door on your computer screen at work. From work, you can invite your guest into your home, unlock the door, switch on the lights, get the coffee brewing, and even start a CD playing to make them relaxed. All from the comforts of your office or other location. Being inn control has never been so easy!

These "smart houses" may be new concepts for most people, but remote control is a practice that God has been incorporating for years! Proverbs 21:1 points out that God is in charge of the powers that be in our world. Those powers may not realize it. They may not even believe in God. But God still has the power to work in and through them to meet the needs of his people.

That doesn't mean everything every leader does will be good, but it still means God is in charge and can work through even the evil that men choose to do. For instance, even though believers in China are often persecuted and even killed for turning to God, China has more than seventy million people who love God and serve him - the more the persecution, the more people believe in God.

Yes even our leaders who have fallen in some way God can use them and in raising their status also bring joy by doing His work. What does God have planned for you as a leader in your community? Are you ready to allow Him to take control of your life? Can you open your eyes wide enough to see what He is doing through our leaders in our work, church, community and around the world?

Selah people' and friends if you ever wonder what the world is coming to, rejoice that God is in charge. Pray for the country and its leaders, and trust God to work through it's leaders even when they don't know he is doing so.

"Join me today in praising our God the one who is truly in control. May we be open to see what great thing He can and will do when we put our trust in Him!"
