September 22, 2009 ~ "Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing"

Ladies times do change but our God is just as powerful today...
Keep Him the main priority in your life!

Today's Scripture:

Our only goal is to please God whether we live here or there.

2 Corinthians 5:9

What a wonderful time this is for woman to be alive. A woman today can enjoy so many things her mother, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers never even imagined. For instance, if you're a baby boomer, your mother might not have known how to drive a car. I met an older woman at a gas station and she looked confused, frustrated and very upset. When I questioned what the problem was and how could I help she explained that her husband had past way two weeks before and that she had never had to put gas in the car for over 40 years. I showed her how to release the cap from inside the car and how to turn the pump on. I stayed with her until she had went inside and payed and she shared that she had prayed for God's help. I told her He sent me and we had prayer together.

In times past woman might have also been discouraged from having a career or going to college. Women today are free to pursue their dreams and interests while also enjoying a family and focusing on a home.

Maybe no woman can ever have it all, but today's woman comes closer than ever.

While you have more freedom than your foremothers, you also tend to face more busyness. Even if you don't work outside the home or take college classes, schools, community organizations, and churches call on you to volunteer or help in some way thinking you have plenty of time. If you have children, they're getting more homework than ever that requires your help. As the life expectancy increases, you may need to care for aging parents. You could probably add a few activities to those already mentioned.

With all the activity and busyness, it's easy for a woman today to lose focus in her life. It's normal to live in survival mode and not think about why you're doing what you're doing. It's easy to focus on activities and not think about God. Remember as I heard one pastor put it years ago while attending a Logos training to keep the main thing the main thing. God should be the main focus in your life. While you may need to keep busy, you still have to keep him front and center in your life.

Selah people' and friends keep God as the main priority in your life, and you will find that he helps you meet all your other responsibilities. You will find a new sense of his presence in you life, along with a renewed vigor and guidance.

"We can be blessed with all God has planned for us if we will keep Him the center of our lives."
