September 27, 2009 ~ The Friend Who Is Always Beside You

Sometimes His gentle touch is subtle & we do not realize He is there...

Today's Scripture:

Do not be drunk with wine, which will ruin you, but be filled with the Spirit.

Ephesians 5:18

Many people who read the Bible stumble when they come across the command to be filled with the Spirit. Actually, being filled with the Spirit is a relatively simple concept, and it's one of the most exciting promises in the Bible. Filled means "to be led, controlled empowered" by the Spirit of God. Becoming filled with the Spirit is not difficult - you don't have to go through any long processes. You become filled with the Spirit in your life simply by turning over your motivations and concerns to God. Through the Spirit who lives in you - a bit of a mystical concept, but a reality to those who invite him to take charge of their lives - you find that God gives you resources day by day to live as he want you to.

At times, you may be sitting in a doctor's office, in church, or at school or a meeting, and the Spirit will speak to you. The Spirit's voice might direct you in many areas - often with small details. He might suggest, Make yourself a note to write a letter of encouragement to this person. Or he may draw your attention tot a certain person. Go chat with that one. She looks like she needs to talk to someone.

The filling of the Spirit is like having a friend right inside your mind and heart.

He can speak, lead, encourage, or empower you at any time. At times, you won't even be aware that he is there because his gentle touch is so subtle.

Selah people' and friends let the Spirit lead, guide, empower, and enfold you. Let Him take full rein in your life. If you do, you will see God work through you in awesome ways.

"Remember that He is there for you 24/7/365 and you are never alone!"
