Today's Scripture:

We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated. We do not know what to do, but we do not give up the hope of living. We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. We are hurt sometimes, but we are not destroyed.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9

For years, Timex was one of the most popular watch brands. Perhaps you remember the famous Timex watch commercials. They showed scenes like at Timex being run over by a truck, going down rapids, facing almost every imaginable peril. But the Timex always came through-it might look a little battered, but it was still operational. For thirty-five years, the Timex was "Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. Nothing could stop a Timex. It was advertised as being invincible.

That's also the theme you can adopt in your life. Paul, the man who wrote several books of the Bible, could have said it. He endured shipwrecks, beatings, imprisonment for his faith, and all sorts of tough times. But he kept living for God and talking about Jesus.

You may never hit tough times as a result of your faith. But at some time or another, you will probably hit some bumps in the road - that's part of life. Although trying times may come in life, you can still emerge from them triumphant. Like that Timex watch, you may look a little battered, but you don't have to be beaten. You can remain emotionally, spiritually, and mentally victorious by reminding yourself that you have God's power on your side. Instead of focusing on the troubles, concentrate on the positives - on your ability to overcome the tough stuff with God's help.

Selah people' and friends God promises to be there with you to face the tough times. No matter what life throws at you, you can take the lickin' and keep on tickin'. Remember Jesus didn't tap or give up and He will get you through the storms you must face today.

"The God of yesterday is the God of today and tomorrow. When your hardest hit you must not quit!"
