September 18, 2009 ~ "An Unboxed Faith"

What do you need to give to God today?
Please know He is better than any bank!

Today's Scripture:

I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.

1 Timothy 1:12

Mary Ruth keeps all of her special papers in a safe-deposit box at the bank. Whenever she wants to check her house deed, saving bonds, or other documents, she visits the bank and takes a look. Then she locks her box and entrusts it to the bank until the next time she wants to see those items. Besides papers, people keep jewelry, coins, and other valuables in safe-deposit boxes. People may leave their treasures there for years - or simply for a few months. Banks that offer this service have strict guidelines to guard their clients' personal property.

Just as you can entrust your personal possessions to the care of a bank, so also can you trust God with the intangibles in your life.

God is fully trustworthy. Better than any bank, God holds on to whatever you give to him, whether emotions, thoughts, or even loved ones. Paul wrote this in a letter to his friend Timothy while Paul was in prison for his faith. Even in the face of being jailed because he believe in God, Paul still trusted God, and he encouraged Timothy to do the same.

You needn't lie awake at night worrying about your papers at the bank. And when you put something in God's hands, you can leave it there, knowing that God will take care of it - and you. Brothers and sisters I tell as we closed out a week of revival in the Grantham community many new commitments were made to God. It is my humble prayer the revival continues in the days and weeks ahead in our community and beyond. I lift special prayer to those who committed themselves to Christ for the first time or rededicated themselves to the Lord, also the women, my sisters in Christ who are going through the program at The Valley of Hope ministry and rehabilitation center.

Selah people' and friends may you and I entrust every aspect of our life - the hopes, dreams, and plans, as well as the concerns - to God our Lord and Savior today.

"Take your cares to the Lord in prayer today."
