September 20, 2009 ~ The Treasure in You

Know that inside each of us is the treasure God put in us!

Today's Scripture:

We have this treasure from God, but we are like clay jars that hold treasure. This shows that the great power is from God, not from us.

2 Corinthians 4:7

If you want to go on a treasure hunt, look in your own mirror. According to Paul, the attractive man or woman looking back at you is full of value and hides a precious treasure. In the context of 2 Corinthians 4:7, the treasure Paul is talking about is talking about is Jesus. He is the treasure within you, and you are likened to a clay pot.

In the land and times of the Bible, clay pots were valuable to their owners. The pots may not have been as beautiful as a jeweled container, but the clay pots were useful and lasted long. They were ordinary, but they were invaluable for the tasks needed in the household. But not matter how valuable the jar, its contents were more valuable than the container, but the clay pots were useful and last long. They were ordinary, but they were invaluable for the tasks needed in the household. But no matter how valuable the jar, its contents were more valuable than the contents were more valuable than the container. The value of the container lay in its ability to keep its contents safe.

Like a clay pot or jar, you are an ordinary tool, an everyday person. Jesus chose to live in you.

Like all humans, you are fallible and are imperfect, but God still chose you.

God is far wiser than any human - he created humans. But he chose to live inside mortals and to use believers on earth. He lives inside you. The glory comes because he lives inside his creation and works through every person to bring about great things in his world.

Selah people' and friends if you ever feel as boring as a clay jar, be glad. God chose to live in you and use you. It isn't what is on your outside that counts, but who is on your inside.

"May not only you allow others to meet the Jesus in you, but it is my humble prayer today that each of us will see Him each time you look in the mirror...what a treasure."
