September 10, 2009 ~ The Best Dad Ever

Parents are there to show children the way...
do you know how to follow?

Today's Scripture:

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Matthew 7:11

Walk into most art museums or galleries, and somewhere you'll probably find a tender painting of a mother and child or maybe a study of a father and son, popular subjects in the art world. The parental relationship is the basis of all earthly relationships.

Though many family relationships are imperfect, the love a parent has for a child can be the most giving, sacrificial relationship that exists. Think about the ideal parent and child relationship that exists. Think about the ideal parent and child relationship. Mothers and fathers pour out time, energy, and money to take care of their children. They'd give their lives to protect their children. Ideal parents deal with each of their children on a personalized level, catering teaching and training to the style that most effectively helps each child. Parents help kids dream. They want the best for their children, but they also want their offspring to be happy. Parents make themselves available to children to love them, comfort them, encourage them, and simply have a good time with them.

It is no wonder that many artists honor parents. And as much as parents love their children, it is truly staggering to realize that God loves his children even more than the most perfect earthly parents love their offspring. In every statement above, you could replace the word parents with God and the references to children with your name, and it would all be true.

Selah people' and friends God makes himself available to love you, comfort you, and encourage you. He's glad to be your divine Dad. Relish the closeness you can have with your heavenly Father.

"Are you available to those in your life? How is your relationship with your heavenly father? May we allow Him to help lead us and achieve all the dreams He has planned for us."
