Today's Scripture:
Galatians 6:9
The audience bristled with anticipation when the great English leader Sir Winston Churchill stepped to the podium. He looked over the crowd of graduating Oxford students and opened his mouth. Then he made what may be the shortest graduation speech in history: "Never give up." Some versions of this story say Churchill repeated these word three times, but it still probably qualifies for the shortest speech. Sir Winston apparently felt that was the most important message he could give to those who were embarking out into the world.
Galatians 6:9 goes into more detail, but it gives the same concept: never give up. In fact, Paul, the writer, encouraged readers not only to not give up, but to not get tired of doing good things. If you're human, once in a while, the blues will probably strike you- especially when you have been working hard and are physically or emotionally tired. When you are blue, it is easy to want to just call it quits, to feel that your hard work is bringing no results.
Paul also gave a clue on how to find the courage, the strength, and the encouragement to go on:
Think of the end result. Don't concentrate on how you feel.
Don't listen to any voice that tells you your hard work does no good. Just focus on you ultimate goal- like a runner who concentrates on the finish line during a race.
Selah people' and friends don't be weary of doing what is good and right. Get some rest, ask God to help you, and keep going. The rewards will make your hard work worth it.
"Last night I rushed to revival at Friendly Holiness Church in the Grantham community with my days work and a funeral behind me. Tired and weary I felt revived as I put my eyes upon Jesus and as the service came to a close at close to 9pm a young man by the name of Jeremy came to the alter and prayed to ask Jesus to come into his heart and to forgive him of all his sins...praise God! Don't lose heart my friends...keep your eyes on the prize."
