September 2, 2009 ~ Be Wary of Your Perceptions

Which path is God leading you to take?

Today's Scripture:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3: 5-6

These famous and important words - to trust in the Lord - speak to nearly any situation a christian can encounter. You might be worried about a new job you've accepted or one you've rejected. Trust in the Lord. You may be concerned about your father's surgery and his recovery. Trust in the Lord, and don't depend on your own understanding of things. You may wonder why your boss repeatedly questions your decisions. the verse says it all: seek God's will and trust him. Follow God, and he'll lead you.

This verse functions as the d0-it-all repair kit of spiritual living. It can be used in many situations and offers wisdom that is unparalleled by anything you might hear from the rest of the world. But for a moment, take a look at that little phrase, "lean not on your own understanding."

When you encounter a circumstance that seems tough to resolve, you will naturally lean on your own perception of things. You might try to guess your boss's motives. Or your commons sense may tell you to go one way, the wrong way. This verse of God's word tell you and I instead to listen for God's direction. Trust him. Refuse to think all is lost because your mind tells you that. Rely on God, and he will bring you through. Consider memorizing Proverbs 3: 5-6 if you haven't already. It is the ultimate prescription for inner peace.

Selah people' and friends trust God, and refuse to listen to what your brain is telling you; seek God always, and he will open up to you the way you need to go.

"Join me in turning a deaf ear to our ways and others and may we only hear what God's way is for the path of our life."
