August 23, 2009 ~ Overcoming Evil

You can overcome evil by allowing Christ to help you help others...

Today's Scripture:

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:21

Patricia was a natural for promotion when an administrative assistant position opened. She was a hard worker and very loyal to the company; she was also very capable, and she had seniority. Everyone in the office was shocked when a relatively new staff member go the job instead of Patricia.

Patricia soon learned that details. The new coworker had campaigned for the position. She'd subtly criticized Patricia - and even lied - to bosses who didn't know Patricia that well. And the co worker's schemes had worked perfectly. Patricia was divistated as she watched the new administrative assistant flaunt the position she wasn't qualified to hold.

Patricia faced the real test one day when she walked into the break room and found the administrative assistant crying. Patricia started to just leave, thinking of the dishonesty, the manipulation, and all the things this woman had done to get her position. But Eileen felt compelled by God to ask what was wrong. As she sat and listened and consoled her co worker's woes, she found compassion and forgiveness in her heart.

Evil can take many forms in your life and can threaten to overwhelm you.

When you think evil is conquering you, take the upper hand by refusing to sink to its level.

With God's help, you can conquer the bad in your life and counter it with good. Whatever form evil may take in your life, God promises that you don't have to let its power overwhelm you.

Selah people' and friends conquer problems, tough situations, and hard circumstances by doing good. As you act kindly and wisely, God uses you to make a dent in the overall difficulties in this world.

"May we work together with Christ help to overcome the evil which daily tries to take over our world. Be aware of the devil and his schemes and put on the whole armour of God. The victory is ours thanks to Christ so do not waver from pushing toward the prize."
