August 18, 2009 ~ TRUE WORSHIP!

Are you allowing the Spirit to lead you?
Today's Scripture:
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

John 4:24

A young woman sways to praise music in a large church sanctuary. In the front row, a middle-aged woman gets out of her seat, turns, and kneels in the pew with her head in her hands to pray. In the middle of the sanctuary, another woman sits, her eyes open, her lips moving, but with no words coming out.

Clearly, all three women could be worshiping God in ways that please God. What they show is that it isn't the outward position - kneeling, standing, sitting, dancing - or the exuberance of the expression. Rather the heart connection is what counts.

Worship is the highest expression of human love and devotion to God.

Jesus's words in John 4:24 reveal that worship most truly occurs when your spirit connects with God's Spirit, when the real you meets the real him and honors him for his love, grace and sacrifice. You can do that in any position, in any place, at any time, and with any attitude. Most people occasionally feel that their worship is little more than going through motions. Ask God to work in you his real, Spirit-to-spirit worship. Ask the Spirit of God to guide you. As you grow and learn, worship will become a blessed reality and a part of your life that you could never forget, overlook, or skip.

Selah people' and friends... Real, intimate worship is worth the effort to develop in your life.

"Let us grow not only in knowledge but in Spirit and in the way that we worship the Lord."
