November 18, 2009 ~ The Power of Purity

Are you allowing God reflect cleanness in you life?

Today's Scripture:

Among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.

Ephesians 5:3

You needed to be around Georgia for only a few hours to realize that you'd never hear a raucous or off-color joke come out of her mouth. It wasn't that she didn't have a great sense of humor - she did. And it wasn't that she was a prude about sex - she and her husband were honest about there deep love for each other and about physical pleasures they still enjoyed as they entered their senior years. It wasn't even that Georgia was outdated - she'd spent her whole life working with teenagers and was still "hip." She wasn't naive; she was simply pure. Georgia had learned early in life that the Bible tells women to be reflections of God in all they say and do, and she quickly learned the importance of garbage in garbage out - that what a person puts into her or his life will show up in their actions, attitudes, and words.

Georgia put good things into her mind and life, and it shows. As a result, she has earned the respect of all kinds and all ages of people. She has been able to make a difference in individual lives, and even in communities. When Georgia speaks, people listen because they know Georgia's words will be well thought out, honest, and honorable.

Selah people' and friends there's power in a pure heart, a stainless mind, and a clean tongue.

Now I want you to know that a woman doesn't have to live in a Pollyanna (glad game) world, but she can discipline what goes into her heart and mind. If your not there yet that is OK today is a great chance for a new beginning. If a woman or man puts their heart and soul into it and has faith that would move mountains nothing is impossible. You and I will never be good enough but as put God-honoring things into our life, purity will shine out.

"Ask God to show you ways you can reflect his holiness and cleanness in your world. As a young boy in scouts we were taught that cleanliness is next to Godliness...Strive today to be clean in your actions, your thoughts, and your words. See what light God will shine in your life when you put aside those things which you know are unclean."
