Everyone should step back once and a while and measure what is really important...

Today's Scripture:

Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have. God has said, "I will never leave you; I will never forget you."

Al and Vidy never had much money. They were both raised during the depression. Whey they married, Al had a promising career. Then he felt drawn to help teenagers spiritually. As his ministry with teenagers grew, he left his job to work with teenagers full-time.

Over the years, Al and Vidy poured most of their small salary back into their ministry to teens. They fixed up a little house to use as rental property to help put their three kids through school. Along the way, they gave up some financial dreams. Vidy had always wanted a fur coat, but decided her wool one would do fine. Al had always wanted a nice car, but the closest he ever got was a fifteen-year-old Cadillac that someone gave them.

Al and Vidy didn't really feel the sacrifices. They were happy that they could make a difference in teen lives. They had learned the secret of great living: their love for each other and their relationship with God were more important that any money or possessions could be. They have rejoiced to see their children and grandchildren follow in their footsteps. Some of them even run the youth organization that Al and Vidy started sixty years ago. Al is gone now, but Vidy doesn't feel alone.

Selah people' and friend she knows that God is with her and that he has provided every need. She is satisfied.

Once in a while every woman and man should take a measure of their life and assess what is really important.

Vidy's attitude is an example that all of us can follow.

"The advertising world puts pressure on people to accumulate things and money. But the greatest accomplishments you can have are contentment and contented relationships with God and other people."
