June 30, 2010 ~ Setup for a Comeback

"Never Give Up"

"Colonel Sanders had the construction of a new road put him out of business in 1967. He went to over 1,000 places trying to sell his chicken recipe before he found a buyer interested in his 11 herbs and spices. Seven years later, at the age of 75, Colonel Sanders sold his fried chicken company for a finger-lickin' $15 million!"

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again"

Proverbs 24:16

Life is full of things that try to push us down. We all face disappointments and setbacks. Maybe you got some bad news concerning your health, or maybe a relationship didn't work out. That was a setback. It's easy to get discouraged, lose your enthusiasm, or even be tempted to just settle where you are. But if we're going to see God's best, we have to have a "bounce-back" mentality. That means when you get knocked down, you don't stay down. You get back up again. You have to know that every time adversity comes against you, it's a setup for a comeback!

Remember, as a believer, the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives on the inside of you.

There is no challenge too difficult, no obstacle too high, no sickness, no disappointment, no person, nothing that can keep you from your God-given destiny. If you stay in faith and keep a good attitude, you will rise again. God will turn those stumbling blocks into stepping stones, and you'll move forward into the victory He has in store for you!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father in heaven, thank You for setting me up for success in everything I do. I choose to trust and rely on You knowing that Your plans are for my good. I know my best days are ahead of me and look ahead to the blessings You have in store for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

June 24, 2010 ~ His Plans are Greater

God's plan is greater than all of ours...often we need to step

back and really take in the vastness of His blessing...

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts"

Isaiah 55:9

Selah people' and friends have you been praying and standing on God's Word for something and you haven't seen the results yet?

The scripture says in John 11 verse 6, "When Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick, He stayed where He was two more days." One translation says, "He sat down." Don't you know that was the opposite response that Lazarus' family was looking for? "Jesus, don't sit down when we need You the most." In other words, "God, don't sit down when my finances are this low." "Don't sit down when my problems are this big." But in the end, God not only healed Lazarus, He raised him from the dead!

Your mind may be telling you it's over, it's too late, it's never going to happen. No, you've got to know there is a reason for the delay. God is planning something greater. You're thinking of a healing. He is thinking of a resurrection. You may be thinking how can I just survive, but God is thinking how you can thrive.

Remember, His ways are higher than your ways, and you can trust that He is going to amaze you with His goodness in every area of your life!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, today I choose to trust in You. I trust that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. I release all of my cares and concerns to You knowing that You have a greater plan in store for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

June 23, 2010 ~ He is Strong in You...

Where does your power come from?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness…"

Romans 8:26

Do you ever get focused on what you consider to be a disadvantage or weakness in your life? Maybe there's something about yourself that you don't like physically. You may have even been through an unfair situation: a divorce, breakup, separation, trouble relationship that is not all it could be. Perhaps you've experienced a bad business deal, passover for promotion or raise or just a bad break that you feel was of no fault of your own.

Selah people' and friends we all have things that can feel like disadvantages, things that make it harder on us. But just because you have a "disadvantage," just because you've been through a tough time doesn't mean you're supposed to sit back and settle where you are. No, God still has something great for you to do! He wants to show Himself strong in and through you. The Holy Spirit wants to help you during those times when you feel weak. If you will stay in faith and not get negative toward yourself or your future, then God can take what you think is a liability and turn it into an asset.

What you think is a disadvantage God will turn around to be an advantage so you can move forward into the abundant life He has for you!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father in heaven, today I give You all that I am. I invite You into the weak places in my life so that You can turn them into strengths. Thank You for working in my life and filling me with faith and expectancy. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

June 22nd, 2010 ~ Divine Interruptions

What is standing in your way...? Perhaps God has a different plan.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight"

Proverbs 3:5-6

We all have times when our plans don't work out. We get delayed, interrupted, and inconvenienced. It's easy to get frustrated and fight against everything that doesn't go our way. But I've learned that every interruption is not bad. Every closed door doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. Every delay doesn't mean you're not where you're supposed to be. There is something I call a divine interruption where God, on purpose, will delay us to protect us from an accident. On purpose, He will close a door because it's not His best. Sometimes, God will allow us to be inconvenienced so we can help someone else in need. We have to be willing to press through difficulty so we can be at the right place at the right time.

Selah people' and friends the next time you're interrupted, delayed, or inconvenienced, don't start thinking, "This is a pain. This is getting me off schedule."

No, get a new perspective. Look for what God wants to do because it could be divine interruption or divine protection. Trust Him today because He is directing your steps.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:
"Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me. I surrender every area of my mind, will, and emotions to You. Use me for Your glory today and teach me to discern Your ways. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
In Christ Love and service,
Patrick

June 20th, 2010 ~ Zac Smith's Story

Link to video: http://www.tangle.com/view_video?viewkey=9b69ab461e717e6f295d

This is more than a story of cancer it is a story of one man's faith and Love of God and his family. What's your story today? Are you wasting this precious time that God has given you? If you are a cancer survivor or family member of someone touched by the devastation of cancer has it changed you for the better.

Selah people' and friends this is the story of our brother in Christ...You see my friends Zac Smith stepped into eternity and went home to be with Jesus last month on May 16th, 2010. Knowing this watch this story as brother Zac explains how he is praising God for cancer.

I hear his words but will I take it to heart and make changes? Will you? Do we need to go through this first hand to gain the wisdom from God? It is my humble prayer that we to will be blessed by cancer and be moved to be new creations for our spouses, our children, our family, friends and co-workers. Choose this day to live and therefore be ready to die!

June 19th, 2010 ~ To a child Love is spelled TIME!

Take this as a reminder from God not to waste another moment...
If you are a Dad, Mom, sibling or friend...please show your Love!

LINK TO VIDEO:

As I sit on the eve of another Father's day I think of all the special days I spent with my Dad playing catch, fishing working on all those old Chevy cars and trucks he owned. I also remember the many times he was away and how sad that made me feel. Today as a pastor and pickle manager I spend long hours working and serving other people and though I love my children and wife dearly as this video from my buddy Mac at Simpletruth.com reminds us:

Kids spell LOVE ~ T.I.M.E

It is my prayer Selah people' and friends that you and I will take more TIME out to show all our children how much they are loved. That is my prayer for each of us today, the coming weeks, months and years. When you look back on life don't look back with regret of what might have been.

June 18, 2010 ~ Store it Up

What are you saving up for?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
"Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments"

Deuteronomy 7:9

Jesus went before us and paved the way for victory. Because He lives, we can live in victory in this life and in eternity. But not only can we live in victory, we can help others live in victory, too. We can help the people around us, and we can help the people who are coming after us. We can store up mercy, peace and blessings for future generations.

Selah people' and friends the life we live should make it easier for the people after us. By living a life of excellence, we are leaving a mark for future generations. And really, that’s what matters most in eternity. It’s good to leave an inheritance, but the most valuable thing you can leave on this earth is a legacy of faith. I ask each of you today..."What are you storing up?" As I shared with the family of Tammy Evrard at her memorial service yesterday we must live a life as a tribute for her and the mark she has left on and in each of us.

Listen to more about storing up blessing and favor… Link to Pastor Joel Osteen's message:

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, today I choose to focus on eternal things. I choose to store up a legacy of faith, mercy, excellence and hope for future generations. Help me, by your Spirit, to live a life that honors You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen."

June 17, 2010 ~ Get Ready for The "New"

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined"

Luke 5:37

Are you ready for a new chapter in your life? In order to move forward into the blessing God has for you, you have to be willing to let go of the old. The things that are behind you are not nearly as important as what is out in front of you. It's time to get ready for the "new"!

Selah people' and friends you too may have had some unfair things happen in your life, things that you don't understand; but let me tell you, you have come too far to stop now. Instead of allowing those things to hold you back, why don't you let go and take a step of faith into the new? It's time to get a new, bigger vision; it's time to get a new, fresher outlook; it's time to rise up with a new attitude! Instead of settling where you are, pick up and move forward. Have the attitude that says, "I may not understand it; it may not have been fair, but I am not getting stuck on this page.

I know God has a new chapter for me—a chapter filled with blessings, favor and victory!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. Today, I choose to trust You with my past, present and future. Give me wisdom to discern the seasons of my life and teach me to embrace the new things You have in store for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

June 14th, 2010 ~ For Your Good

May we cling to the cross knowing that all

that we face God will be there with us...

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them"

Romans 8:28

Every person goes through disappointments and things that don't seem to make sense. It's easy to get discouraged and think, "Why did this happen to me?" "Why did my loved one not make it?" "Why did this person treat me wrong?" "Why did I get laid off?" I had a man recently tell me how he lost his job after many years. He just didn't understand it. He said, "Patrick, I gave that company my best. I was always there on time. I was loyal. It's just not right."

Selah people' and friends, we have to understand that even though life is not always fair, God is fair. He promises that He will work all things together for our good. I believe the key word in today's verse is "together." In other words, don't just isolate one part of your life and say, "Well, this is not good." "It's not good that I got laid off." "It's not good that my child got sick." "It's not good that my relationship didn't work out."
Yes, that's true, but that's just one part of your life. God can see the big picture. That disappointment is not the end. Your life doesn't stop because of one setback. That is simply one piece of your puzzle.

There is another piece coming to connect it all because God promises to work all things together for your good!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, thank You for working all things together for my good. I choose to release any doubt, any frustration, any confusion over my past, and I choose to trust in You. Help me to see the big picture as I keep my mind stayed on You. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

June 13th, 2010 ~ Double for Your Trouble

Know that God has even greater blessings waiting for you
on the other side of your trouble.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Because you got a double dose of trouble and more than your share of contempt, your inheritance in the land will be doubled and your joy go on forever"

Isaiah 61:7

Selah people' and friends in the Old Testament when this scripture was written, God's people were going through a very dark time. They were being held captive against their will and mistreated by other nations. God sent this word to encourage them and give them hope for their future. When the time came, God was faithful to His Word!

Are you going through a difficult time today? Let this word bring you encouragement, too.
God wants to give you double for your trouble.
He is the God of restoration—that means He's not going to just repay you for every wrong done, He's going to go above and beyond and make things even better than they were before.

My brothers and sisters if you are facing challenges today or going through a time of adversity, remember, it's always darkest just before the dawn appears. Your days are destined to shine brighter because God is faithful. As you stay in faith and are obedient to His Word, you'll receive double for your trouble and see His promises come to pass!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, thank You for Your Word which lights my path and guides my steps. I choose to put my trust and hope in You today. Thank You for bringing restoration into my life as I keep my heart and mind stayed on You. In Jesus' Name. Amen. "

June 12, 2010 ~ It's Not Just Me!

This one is for the girls...!

Link to video:

Selah people' and friends...

This is a beautiful movie for women! I had this shared with me from Mac at Simpletruths.com. It's a 3 minute celebration of the circle of strength women share - and it speaks to the undeniable fact that there is comfort knowing you're not alone. Those of us have recieved Christ are already very aware of this but this is yet another example of all that God gives and shares with us.

The subtitle of this book and movie says it all: "Woman to woman...Heart to heart." Enjoy and don't forget to forward to your friends. They'll thank you for it!

June 11, 2010 ~ The Moment We Pray...

Have you taken it to the Lord in prayer today?...
What are you waiting for?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help"

Psalm 56:9

Are you believing for God to do something in your life today? I want to encourage you because God is already working behind the scenes on your behalf! Just because you don't see anything happening, doesn't mean that God isn't working. The moment we pray, God sets the miracle into motion. The thing we have to remember is that God doesn't say, "I'll deliver you in one hour, or next week, or Tuesday at 5:00 p.m." No, He doesn't put a time frame on it. That's where trust comes in. We have to know that our enemies retreat as soon as we call on Him for help.

We have to choose to go back to the place of peace knowing that He is working things out.

Selah people' and friends choose today to shake off the temptation to get discouraged during the waiting process. Shake off offense, shake off discouragement. Remember, all it takes is one touch of God's favor to take you years ahead. Keep standing, keep believing, keep hoping because the answer is on its way the moment we pray!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, thank You for hearing me the moment I pray. Today I choose to trust that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf no matter what I see in the natural. I will praise You today and always because You are faithful. I love You and bless You. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

June 10th, 2010 ~ Pray for One Another

Are you there for those who need prayer?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed"

James 5:16
All throughout Scripture, we see that God's system operates on the principle of sowing and reaping. If you sow blessing and mercy into the lives of others, that's what you'll reap in your life in return. The same thing happens when you pray for one another. There's a spiritual dynamic at play when you get your mind off yourself and onto others.

You're sowing a seed so that God can do something in your own life.

Selah people' and friends is there someone in your life you can pray for? Maybe it's a friend or a family member in need. They don't have to be present, you can pray for them as you go about your day or even driving in your car on the way to work. Remember, when you pray for others, God will make sure someone is praying for you. We do this in many ways in our church and community. It my come from a call or text message. Perhaps we send it out via email to all our prayer warriors or we put the name in our Bits N Pieces' or lift up each name on Sunday during worship. It's that connection of faith that opens the door for God to move mightily on your behalf. Pray for each other as God's word demands!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, thank You for another day to be used by You. I choose to pray for the people in my life as You have commanded. Direct my thoughts and prayers today so that I can be a blessing to others and honor You in everything I do. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

June 9th, 2010 ~ Quicker Than You Think

You and I are much closer to the finish line
than we think...Victory is at hand!

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise…"

2 Peter 3:9

Do you realize that as a believer in Jesus, you have a tremendous advantage in life? The Creator of the Universe is not only fighting your battles, but He is lining up the right people, the right breaks, and the right opportunities to move you forward. You may be facing a situation right now that looks like it's never going to turn around, but I believe that you're going to see some changes quicker than you think. You're going to come out of debt quicker than you think. You're going to accomplish your goals much quicker than you think. That relationship is going to be restored quicker than you think!

Remember, God is not slow in keeping His promise.

Selah people' and friends I believe we are entering into a decade where we're going to see the hand of God move like never before. He is going to open up doors that no man can shut. He is going to turn impossible situations around and take you places that you never dreamed. It's time to get ready for more of God's favor because that breakthrough is going to happen quicker than you think!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father in heaven, thank You for being faithful to Your Word. I trust that You will complete the work You've begun in me. Help me keep my heart and mind focused on You as I stand strong in faith to see Your promises come to pass in my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

June 8th, 2010 ~ What is your hope?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

Praise the LORD!

Praise the LORD, O my soul!
While I live I will praise the LORD;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.
His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
In that very day his plans perish.

Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the LORD his God,

Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever,

Who executes justice for the oppressed,
Who gives food to the hungry.
The LORD gives freedom to the prisoners.

The LORD opens the eyes of the blind;
The LORD raises those who are bowed down;
The LORD loves the righteous.

The LORD watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.

The LORD shall reign forever—
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.

Praise the LORD!

Psalm 146

Thought For The Day:

"Put you hope in God and know true blessing."

Put your hope in God, and not mere mortals. If we look at the life of Paul we see how excited he is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with people around the world. For Paul there is only one place to put hope and that is in God. Paul wants everyone to know that as well.

How exciting it is for our youth to be graduating and moving on in life to larger arenas, such as work trip, summer vacations, college, graduate school, and the work place. In all of these transitions, as well as all transitions in life, there is only one place for young and old alike to put our hope, and that is in God. Because of this hope young people, and old alike, should share our faith with others just like the apostle Paul did, and witness the love of Christ.

It is the message of hope from which we get blessing.

Selah people' and friends what do you hope for? What does it mean to put your hope in God during times of change? Find opportunities to grow in your faith this summer; and share your faith story with others, and encourage others to grow in their faith walks. Share the message of hope.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"My brothers and sisters please remember regardless of our your age we can continue to grow and place our Hope on in God. Man will always let you down and disappoint you. Be sure to share with others God's message of Hope and confirm it in your daily lives. We pray this special prayer today as a prayer for Hope. Amen"

June 6th, 2010 ~ He Prepares the Way for Victory

Are you ready for the victory that God has waiting?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ…"

2 Corinthians 2:14

There are times in life when we all face situations that seem impossible. It's easy to get discouraged and think that things won't ever work out. But the Scripture tells us that God goes before us and makes our crooked places straight. In other words, even though you may not have the connections you need right now, you don't have to worry. God is going before you lining up the right people, arranging the right breaks, and setting up the right opportunities.

He is preparing the way for victory!

Selah people' and friends today, if you are facing difficulty, don't fall into the temptation to get negative and sour. That adversity is no a surprise to God. He's not up in the heavens scratching His head and thinking, "Oh, no. Now what am I going to do?" No, He already has every day of your life written in His book. Before you had that problem, God already had the solution. He is going before you right now preparing the next chapter of your life. Stay in faith and keep the right attitude because He is moving you forward into the victory He has prepared for you! June 5th, 2010 ~ Simplify

Let's get back to basics and get into God's Word...

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple"

Psalm 119:130

Selah people' and friends do you ever feel overwhelmed by the obligations of everyday life? Does your schedule sometimes feel complicated?

One of the enemy's greatest tactics is to keep people so busy doing so many good things that there isn't time for the most important thing. Jesus said that in this life one thing is needed and that is to sit at His feet and spend time in His Word.

I have found that when His Word is a priority in our lives, everything else in life will fall into place.

Today, do you need to simplify your life in order to make room in your schedule for Him? If you're not sure how to order your day, simply ask Him to give you wisdom and show you how to manage your time. He loves you so much, and He loves it when you call upon His name. Remember, He longs to be good to those who are looking for His goodness. Simplify your life today so you can receive the light and understanding He desires to give to you.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, today I surrender everything to You. I give You my mind, will, and emotions. I give You my schedule and ask for Your wisdom to order my days. I choose to put You first and thank You for leading me and guiding me in every decision I face today. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Patrick

June 4th, 2010 - Leadership Learned from Nature

God has given us a vast world to learn from...

What is God speaking to you today?

Selah people' and friends,
I had this forwarded to me from Mac at SimpleTruth.com. He shares with us a video story of how in through nature God can show we humans how we could better work as a team. Be it in our jobs, church, families or actual sports teams. You may ask yourself what the secret is to this? No secret...it is has been here for us all the time and we just haven't stopped long enough to reflect on what it means.

You see this group is a society where teamwork, loyalty and communication are the norm rather than the exception. Sound like utopia? Actually, it's already present in nature - in a wolf pack.

The wolf pack knows who it is. Those in the pack exist for each other. Today, if you pause from your day long enough to click the link you'll watch a beautiful movie (less than 4 minutes) that is about wolves and how they can teach us a lot about leadership and about life.

Just sit back, turn up your speakers, and enjoy the music, the photographs, the words and God's message for you and your "Pack"!

June 3, 2010 ~ Open Your Heart

God has forgiven us for so much...
Why can't we forgive others and truly allow our hearts to be open?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"…he who has been forgiven little loves little"

Luke 7:47

Forgiveness is such a powerful gift from heaven above. It's like a door on our heart. When we choose to forgive, it opens our heart so that we can receive everything God has in store for us. But when we hold onto unforgiveness, bitterness and resentment, it closes up our heart and keeps us from moving forward in the blessings of God.

The scripture tells us that if we don't forgive others, God cannot forgive us. That's because the door on our heart is closed. If forgiveness doesn't go out, forgiveness can't come in. But when we choose to forgive, we open our heart so we can receive His forgiveness and allow His love to flow freely through us.

Forgiveness increases our capacity to receive!

Selah people' and friends today remember, people will let you down, they will hurt you and they will disappoint you. Don't let the actions of others block your relationship with the Father by holding unforgiveness. Instead, choose to forgive so that you can increase your capacity to receive everything He has in store for you! I believe God intended me to share this message just for you today...why not stop wasting your time and listen to what God is telling you today. This message is for you!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, thank You for forgiving me and setting me free. Today I choose to forgive others so that I can have room in my heart to receive Your forgiveness and love. Thank You for setting me free. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Your brother in Christ,
Patrick

June 2, 2010 ~ Spirit of Unity

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus"

Romans 15:5

I ask you as my brothers and sisters do you find that you are surrounded by people all the time, but yet you still feel disconnected? In your family, is everyone going in different directions, always busy, always doing their own thing? I've found that we really have to make a conscious effort to walk and live in unity with the people in our lives and not allow distractions to pull us apart. Yesterday, my daughter Maddie was celebrating with end of school awards in the gym at Grantham. I had worked all day trying to get the ducks-in-a-row as they say so I could go and share one hour with her. Of course the business of work and life tried to stand between me and getting to her. Sometimes we have to make a stand if we are going to truly connect and walk in the unity of the spirit with those we care most about.

Walking in a spirit of unity goes beyond just getting along, it's about going the extra mile to support one another and lift each other up. If you want to get the most out of life, you've got to draw a line in the sand and say,

"I'm going to slow down and connect with the people I love. I'm not going to take my relationships for granted."

Selah people' and friends start today by calling a friend or family member that you haven't talked to in a while. Reach out to them and let them know they are important. Make time to have dinner as a family and support each other's activities. When you walk and live in unity, you bless the Lord and open the door for His supernatural blessing in your own life in return!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father in heaven, thank You for the relationships in my life. Help me find creative ways to connect with the people I love. Help me to walk and live in a spirit of unity as You commanded. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Your brother in Christ,
Patrick

June 1, 2010 ~One Thing is Needed

Do you keep the ONE THING close to you...?
God's Holy Word!!!!

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"But only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her"

Luke 10:42

In today's world, most people find that life is full. We have over 500 channels on TV, an unlimited number of sites to browse on the internet, cell phones, smartphone, ipods, ipads, netbooks, tablets and PDA's to keep us connected 24 hours a day. Everywhere you look there is something to do or some kind of entertainment all the time. If we're not careful, we'll fall into the trap of thinking that we've always got to be busy doing something.

But Jesus invites us to be still because really, only one thing is needed.

I heard somebody say one time, what if we treated our Bibles like we do our cell phones? Can you imagine people in the elevators, lobbies and shopping malls thumbing through their Bibles all day long? Can you see people reading and studying the Word while sitting in traffic and at red lights? Not that you should do that, but the point I'm making is that we need to live our lives in balance and make the Word of God a priority. Let's make sure we don't allow the distractions of life to keep us from the one thing that is needed.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:
"Heavenly Father, today I set my heart and affections on You. I choose to lay down the distractions of life and put You first because You are the one thing that is needed. Help me keep my mind focused on You as I declare Your praises throughout the day. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
