Today's Scripture:
And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
And ye are witnesses of these things.
And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
Luke 24:44-53
My father-in-law loves to do puzzle and my son and daughter have caught the bug from him. They will sit down for hours and just look at the box and the pieces and stick to it until the puzzle is complete. Let me ask you though have you ever put together a jigsaw puzzle without using the box? It can be very difficult to understand how these pieces fit together without seeing the image the puzzle should make.
We have to open our minds to see what isn't there yet.
In this passage, we read that Christ Himself opens the disciples' minds. He helps them to see how all the teachings, scriptures and experiences they have known come together in a way they never understood before. Now, it all makes sense. The disciples can finally see the picture the puzzle pieces make.
We may never be able to see the whole picture but we can pray to be open-minded enough to see God in the pieces.
Selah people' and friends do you consider yourself to be an open-minded person? Why or why not? Are you easily frustrated when the "big picture" in life, business, relationships, etc. isn't quickly revealed? Are there experiences in your life you can see God in only after it is over?
Challenge for you today:
Try putting together a puzzle without the box. See if you can train yourself to look beyond the individual pieces to see how the image reveals itself. Then look for ways God is revealing himself in unusual ways this week. I close out our blog today reminded by the tv show "The Locator's" host Troy Dunn's favorite saying..."that you can't find peace until you find all the pieces." Here is to you and I finding the pieces and the true peace that God has intended for each of us.
