Special thanks to all the men and women who have ever served in our military. May we remember those in our past, present and future who give all so that we can be free.

A video tribute to those making it to Arlington National Cemetery. May we remember those 300,000 who are buried there and also all those buried in little towns and farms like ours all across this great country.

God bless them and God bless America!

May 31, 2010 ~ Greater Love

Let us not forget their love or the love of Christ...

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends"

John 15:13

Today is Memorial Day in America. It's a time to honor all those who have given their lives in service for our country. As we remember what these brave men and women did, let's honor the gift they have given us by choosing to show greater love to others.

Selah people' and friends I'm so thankful that Jesus loved us enough to lay down His life so that we could spend eternity with Him. He was the ultimate expression of love. But did you know that there are ways you can lay down your life to express your love to others? When you let go of having your own way, or when you put the needs and desires of others above your own desires, that's a form of laying down your life.

Today, choose to follow Christ's example by putting others first because love is all that matters in eternity.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY: "Father God, thank You for another day to praise You. Thank You for being the ultimate example of love. Help me follow Your example and lay down my life for others. Let everything I do bring honor to You. In Jesus' Name. Amen"

Make your words count so that they may stand the test of time and inspire those you influence today and for eternity.

May 29, 2010 ~Finding Your Heart's Desire

Is your heart growing to be more Christ filled?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

Delight yourself also in the LORD, and he shall give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4

At first glance, the words from Psalm 37 feel to me and perhaps you a bit like a blank check. They seem to say, "Enjoy God and get everything you want." But instead of a promise of prosperity, the words are a proclamation of a profound truth:

The closer you draw to God, the more your desires will reflect his own.

This oft-repeated verse is part of an acrostic psalm, where every other line begins with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Although each verse in Psalm 37 contains its own important message. Those people who are wise have no need to worry during times of trouble. This psalm give you four practical ways to defeat worry when evil people seem to be getting ahead:

1. Trust in the Lord.
2. Commit your way to the Lord.
3. Wait on the Lord.
4. Delight in the Lord.

Selah people' and friends the focus of the psalmist's words is delighting in the Lord. The Hebrew word for delight is much more powerful than its English counterpart. Here it means "to find exquisite joy." To delight in God is to find your deepest pleasure, your highest ecstasy, and your richest fulfillment in life through your relationship with him. This is an ongoing process as you delight in him afresh each day. As your relationship deepens, what is dear to God's heart becomes dear to your heart. This aligns your prayers with God's will. As your prayers are answered, you discover that your deepest desires are fulfilled.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Loving Father we pray that anytime we desire something that we know would also delight You, that we may spend a moment lift praise and thanking You for helping each of us to grow and become more like you. Continue to create in us a clean heart and mold us into your creation. In Jesus name we pray. Amen."

May 28, 2010 ~ Are You a sheep or a goat?

Helping Hands, Healing Hearts...Goat or Sheep?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

I tell you the truth, anything you did for even the least of my people here, you also did for me.

Matthew 25:40

Jesus' disciples questioned him about eternal life and the end of the world. Jesus answered their questions with a series of parables, concluding with one about a herd of sheep and goats. In it, the Son of Man condemned the goats for not meeting his needs: leaving him hungry, thirsty, naked, and lonely when he needed their help most. The sheep were commended for doing what the goats did not - and were surprised by their reward. They didn't remember serving the Son of Man. The words of Matthew 25:40 set the record straight.

Any time people reach out to help on of God's Children in need, they actually minister to God himself.

This parable is a dialogue between Jesus and the nations of the world, not those who already followed him. That's why the sheep were so amazed. They didn't recognize Jesus or the significance of their actions. They weren't acting out of a desire for reward. They were simply living out God's image in their lives by exhibiting sacrificial love- without even recognizing what they were doing. That truth is why the sheep had a lesson to teach those who already knew God personally.

Selah people' and friends this parable assumes that those who follow God will be benevolent and that they will automatically treat others as they would treat Jesus. Experience my friends teaches, however, that isn't always the case. When you notice someone in need, recall Jesus' parable. Be a sheep, not only saved, but motivated by God's love and grace.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, we know the parable of the sheep and goats is a reminder of how eternally significant is every act of love. Allow it to help you to more clearly see Jesus in every person you meet."

I must agree with Tamara and enjoyed how she connected the whirlwind of what we watch and listen to. I agree that we all must make the choice to connect with the one that really matters the most while we still have time. May you and I connect and help others get plugged in to Christ before it is too late.

I have preached so many funerals over the last 16 years of people who thought they had plenty of time. The reality is there may not be another season, a sequel or a second album. What you are doing right now and your next move may be all on this side of heaven. Are you ready? Do you need to phone a friend? Is that your final answer? Soon you will here the words that "the tribe has spoken" and with that your flame on earth will be snuffed out.

May 27, 2010 ~ Move Past Your Mountain...

Regardless of how high, good or bad your current mountain is...
God is telling us in his word today: MOVE ON!

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
:

"…you have stayed long enough at this mountain"

Duet 1:6

Let me ask you friends, do you go out each day knowing that favor is already in your future? Or have you gotten stuck in a rut staring at a mountain of disappointment, setbacks or difficulty?

That's what happened to the people of Israel. They were headed toward their promised land. They had big goals and big dreams, but along the way they hit some setbacks and had some disappointments. They got so discouraged that they gave up on their dreams and just settled where they were.

One day God said to them, "You have dwelt long enough on this mountain."

He was saying, "It's time to move past this and embrace the blessing in your future."

Selah people' and friends I believe God is saying that to each one of us today. You've been where you are long enough. God is saying, "This is a new day. Get your fire back. Where you are is not where you're supposed to stay." If you'll be determined to move past your mountain, He will lead you and empower you to live in favor and blessing in every area of your life! It is my prayer for you and for me today that we will set our sights on the next mountain top experience that God has in store for each of us. We serve a mighty God who has great plans for us if we only will have faith and move beyond the place we are now.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, I give to You every area of my heart. I give You my questions, my disappointments, my doubts and fears. I choose to trade my sorrow for Your joy. I choose to press past my mountains so I can embrace the promises You have in store for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

May 26, 2010 ~ More than Enough

For when we allow God He will bless us abundantly...

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty"

Psalm 37:19

We serve the God of more than enough! It doesn't matter what's happening around you, it doesn't matter what's happening in the economy, it doesn't matter what's happening in the stock market, God is able to provide for you. No matter if we live in New York, Miami, Houston, Los Angeles or Grantham, NC our God is here to bless us abundantly. Regardless of our status or position in business, education or farming. Notice today's verse doesn't just say He'll help you barely get by; no,

it says that in days of famine His people will enjoy plenty.

Selah people' and friends the key is we have to get our minds off of this natural, earthly realm and start setting our minds on things above. Remember, there is no recession in heaven, but if you aren't investing in God's economy, you won't see the reward He has for you. Take a step of faith today and sow a seed.

Join me today as we ask God how you and I can be a blessing to others. Remember, you are a steward over His resources. When you choose to be obedient to Him, you will eat the good of the land. And when you tap into God's economy by obeying His Word, you will have His results—more than enough! If you have not made that commitment to him fully then why not today? Isn't he calling you to join Him and not only be forgiven be to be blessed abundantly!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, thank You for the resources You have given to me. Thank You for trusting me to be Your representative in the earth and for giving me more than enough. Show me how to handle the blessings You've given me so that I can please You in everything I do. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

May 25, 2010 ~ Finish Strong

Selah people' and friends...

When I reflect on my life, I can say, with certainty, that some of my most valuable "life lessons" came from playing sports in high school. Those lessons helped in shaping my attitude, my character, and in short, making me into the person I am today. For me they were....priceless.

I was checking this book review out at SimpleTruths.com. Finish Strong: Teen Athlete : it is Dan Green's follow up to his best-selling book Finish Strong (the book and the mantra the New Orleans Saints used along their journey to become the 2009 Super Bowl Champions).

Finish Strong: Teen Athlete identifies 16 key principles for developing the champion within, and no matter which sport is played, any teen athlete (male or female) can learn from it. With "quick hit chapters" and visually stimulating graphics, teens will benefit from this inspiring collection of stories and lessons learned. It has the potential to be life changing.

Today, I'd too would like to share a story in the book called: "Respect will carry you home."

An excerpt from Finish Strong: Teen Athlete...

Developing the Champion Within, by Dan Green

Western Oregon University's Sara Tucholsky had no idea that the first - and, as it turns out, only - homerun of her career would cause ripples that would make her last swing of the bat as a college softball player a national media sensation.

With two runners on and her team down a run to Central Washington University, Sara hit a homerun to centerfield. As she rounded first base, she missed the bag. When she turned to tag the base, she injured her knee. Able only to crawl back to the base, Sara was told that she would be called out if her teammates came to her aid. If a pinch runner checked into the game, her homerun would count only as a single.

Players and fans alike were stunned when Central Washington first baseman Mallory Holtman, the conference's all-time homerun leader, asked the umpire if there was any rule against opponents helping an injured player around the bases.

She was told that there was not. Together, Holtman and shortstop Liz Wallace picked up Tucholsky and carried her around the bases, stopping at each bag to allow Sara to touch it with her good leg. "It was the right thing to do," Holtman said in an interview on national television, after the respectful act of sportsmanship had been witnessed by millions on ESPN and had become a YouTube sensation.

The three runs sent Western Oregon to a 4-2 victory, ending Central Washington's chances of winning the conference and advancing to the playoffs.

"It's a great story," Western Oregon coach Pam Knox said, "something I'll never forget - the game's about character and integrity and sportsmanship, and it's not always about winning and losing."

As it turns out, the players who helped Sara had no idea of the circumstances surrounding the at-bat, or that the story would make headlines around the country. "We didn't know that she was a senior or that this was her first home run," Wallace said Wednesday. "That makes the story more touching than it was.

We just wanted to help her." The gesture left Sara's Western Oregon teammates in tears. "I hope I would do the same for her in the same situation," Sara said. Central Washington coach Gary Frederick called the act of sportsmanship "unbelievable."

"In the end, it is not about winning and losing so much," Holtman, who initiated the act, said. "It was about this girl. She hit it over the fence and was in pain, and she deserved a homerun."

May you and I be ready to finish strong and continue to help others young and old. Something to think about.

May 24, 2010 ~ He Will Fill You

Is your bucket filled with blessings?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"'…My people will be filled with My bounty,' declares the LORD"

Jeremiah 31:14

When I think of being filled, I think of being satisfied. I think of having more than enough to meet my needs so that I can be a blessing to others. But it all starts with our level of expectancy. My question for you today is what are you believing for? What are you expecting? You might say, "Well, Patrick. I don't think I'll ever meet my goals this year with the economy like it is." Or, "I don't think I'll ever get promoted. I'm not that qualified." "I don't think I'll ever get well from my illness." The problem is you're not looking for those good breaks. You're not expecting increase. You're not positioning yourself for God to fill you, and unfortunately, you won't be disappointed.

Jesus said in the scriptures,

"According to your faith it will be done unto you."

Selah people' and friends He might as well have said, "If you've got a cup, I'll fill you with a cup level of blessing. If you've got a bucket, I'll fill you with a bucket level of blessing." But if you'll take the limits off of God and believe for supernatural opportunities, if you'll go out each day expecting far and beyond favor, you won't be disappointed. He will fill you and satisfy you with His goodness and show His favor in ways beyond your wildest dreams! Join me in sharing our high expectations and pushing each other to a place beyond any we expected to achieve. May our work, our relationships, our physical well being be filled to overflowing beyond mediocre, beyond average and reaching into excellence. When we make it there may we not be satisfied but inspired that through Christ we can do so much more and help others along the way.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, thank You for blessing me so that I can be a blessing to others. Today, I choose to open my heart and mind to You and expect that You will fill me with Your bounty. I choose to take the limits off my thinking so that You can have Your way in my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

May 22, 2010 ~ Running To Win!

"Regardless of what is in front of you get after it...
keep trying to reach the goal and the prize!"

Today's Scripture:

One thing I always do. Forgetting the past and straining toward what is ahead, I keep trying to reach the goal and get the prize for which God called me to through Christ to the life above.

Philippians 3:13-14

When the apostle Paul said there is "one thing I always do," it is time to sit up and listen. Paul summarized his goal in life and shared a couple of quick tips on how to persevere toward reaching it. That makes his advice not only important, but extremely helpful to those with that same goal in mind.

Paul's images of "straining toward what is ahead" and "trying to reach the goal" paint a picture of a long distance runner or Cross Fitter whose focus on the rewards of the finish line or end of the WOD (workout of the day) give him or her the strength to persevere, one step or one rep at a time. The goal Paul pointed to is God's call to run toward a Jesus-centered life, leaving his self-centered life behind in the dust. This photo taken by Mike my Cross Fit coach reminds me of this scripture as myself Holly and Brooke push to finish well. You see my friends the prize Paul longed to reach was not eternal life, because Jesus' death has already achieved that. Instead, Paul pursued a mature Christian life, one that yielded rewards both in heaven and on earth.

Paul's purpose and process for perseverance provide practical applications you can use every day of your life. Put your past mistakes, victories, and self-reliance behind you.

Focus your attention and energy on Jesus, not on those running or working alongside you. Keep moving forward...one more step, one more box jump, one more push up or hang snatch-your endurance increases the harder and farther you run and push yourself.

Selah people' and friends keep your goal and the finish line in sight. It doesn't mark the end of your life; it marks the beginning of an eternity spent in the winner's circle with Jesus, the one who enables you and I to be victorious. You see my friends running they have WR's or "world records" for having the best time and in Cross Fit we have PR's which are what we call our "personal records" when one beats their best time. In life we too can experience a PR in the form of a "Praise report"...An eternal celebration of our victory of perseverance.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Brothers and Sisters it is my humble prayer as your pastor and friend that you will remember that "Persevering" toward maturity in your faith takes both personal effort and the transforming power of God's Spirit. God works through you and I as we do His work. May we push forward to reach all we can for Christ and let nothing stand in our way to this goal."

May 20, 2010 ~ The Tongue of the Wise

Mom always said if you didn't have something nice to say

don't say anything at all...wise words of wisdom.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing"

Proverbs 12:18

It's easy to see how words can be used as a weapon. We've all either been "cut" by the words of others, or we've used words to put someone "in their place." The truth of the matter is when we use words recklessly or in a way that cuts others, we are not being wise.

The scripture tells us that the tongue of the wise brings life and healing to others.

Selah people' and friends today, look for ways to be wise. Find something nice to say about someone or share an encouraging word. You never know how you can bring healing to a person's heart by sharing a kind, gracious word. And remember, words are like seeds. What words are using daily with your friends, your family, your coworkers? What are you texting, emailing or putting on your Facebook or MySpace page. When you plant words of life and blessing into others, you're sure to reap a harvest of blessing in your own life in return. Join me in squashing hateful and hurtful words and replacing them with seed of hope and encouragement. "Wise Words!"

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, today I choose to be wise. I submit my tongue to You and choose to use it for good and not for evil. Show me ways to be a blessing to others. Help me find creative ways to encourage the people You have placed in my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Why are you here?

Each day that we wake up and have breath and life is a new day and a new opportunity. God has placed you here for a reason and whatever you are going through today remember you are not alone. He has sent the Holy Spirit to be with us and to pray for us even when we don't know what to say. He gives us the body of Christ each other brothers and sisters to be a hand or shoulder to lean on to assist each other.

Selah people' and friends know that your pastor and church family are here for you day and night. More importantly God is with you and has a purpose for you. May we live up to our full potential. May 18, 2010 ~ Protected by LOVE

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there"

James 3:16

All throughout scripture, God commands us to love. In fact, 1 Corinthians tells us that love is the greatest thing. Love is all that matters on this earth, and it's all that will last in eternity. But do you realize that we are protected when we walk in love? When we are selfish or self-seeking, the scripture tells us that it opens the door to confusion and every evil work.

But when we walk in love, when we choose to put others first, when we choose to be patient and kind and walk in unity, we are protected by love.

We close the door to the plans of the enemy in our lives.

Selah people' and friends today, check your love walk. Read 1 Corinthians 13 and see if you emulate the characteristics of love. Remember, love is not a feeling; it's a choice. When you choose love, it's like you are covered by a force field of protection that cannot be penetrated.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, I humbly come before You today asking that You search my heart. Remove any selfish way in me and help me to always walk in love. Thank You for protecting me through Your promises. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

May 17, 2010 ~ The Position of Power

We hold the power in the palm of our hands and in our hearts...

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Good sense makes a man restrain his anger, and it is his glory to overlook a transgression or an offense"
Proverbs 19:11

Every day, we have opportunities to get upset, be frustrated, or get offended. Maybe you had plans that didn't work out, or someone was rude to you at the office. Maybe you were doing something that should have taken one hour, and it ended up taking three. Life is full of inconveniences; but even though we can't always control our circumstances, we can control our reactions to those circumstances. I heard somebody say,

"Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond."

Selah people' and friends we should always go out each day with a positive attitude, full of hope and expecting God's favor. But at the same time, we should recognize that most days are not going to go exactly as we planned. Remember, we were created to live in peace. Peace is our position of power. If you get stressed because you got off schedule, or got upset because your child wouldn't eat his breakfast, or frustrated because somebody offended you, what you're doing is giving away your power. Instead, make the decision to release those offenses and disappointments so you live in peace and move forward in the power and victory the Lord has for you!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father in heaven, today I release every care, concern, offense and disappointment to You. I choose to keep the peace that You have given me knowing that with You my best days are ahead! In Jesus' Name. Amen. "

May 16, 2010 ~ Listen to Your Heart

What are you listening to???

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips"

Proverbs 16:23

Choosing your words is very important. The scripture tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. You can bless your future with your words, or you can curse it. God Himself spoke the worlds into existence by the creative power of words.

There are many influences over our words. In the heat of the moment, we can let our emotions tell us what to say. We can listen to what others say and allow them to influence our words. We can even be influenced by what we watch on TV, the internet, or read in the news. But notice what today's verse tells us that a wise person does—a wise person listens to their heart and lets their heart teach them what to say.

As a believer, when you listen to your heart, you are tuning in to what the Spirit of God is saying to you.

You are coming into agreement with Him.

Selah people' and friends today, listen to your heart. Take time to be still and quiet before the Lord. Allow Him to teach you what to say. As you submit your words and ways to Him, He will direct your path.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

Father God, thank You for giving me power in the words of my mouth. Help me to stay tuned into You by listening to my heart. Teach me to use my words to always speak life and bless others. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

May 15, 2010 ~ Transformed in Your Mind

May we be transformed into the creation God wants us to be!

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…"

Romans 12:2

Did you know that you life will move in the direction of your most dominant thoughts? If you're constantly down on yourself thinking you'll never get ahead, then you won't. But if you'll choose to believe that you are an overcomer, that you have victory up ahead, that God has good things in store for your future; then that's what you'll end up with.

That's why it's so important to make sure our thoughts are the same as God's thoughts. Just like a computer, whatever you allow into your mind is what will come out in your attitude and actions.
The more you meditate on God's Word, the more you will transform your thinking to be like God's thinking.

Selah people' and friends join me and choose today to focus on the Word of God and allow your mind to be renewed. As you focus on God's thoughts, you will see your actions become more like Him and you will see His hand of blessing in every area of your life. You and I can overcome the world and all its obstacles. May we join together and transform not only ourselves but all in our community and world that need God's annointing and favor today.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY :

"Heavenly Father, I submit to you all that I am. I ask that you renew my mind by the Word of God so that my thoughts are Your thoughts. Transform me into Your image. In Jesus' Name. Amen. "

May 14, 2010 ~ Ever By Your Side

God is ever by your side even though we can't see him...

Today's Scripture:

Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? If I ascend into heaven, you are there; If I make my bed in Hell, behold, you are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there YOUR hand shall lead me, and YOUR right hand shall hold me.

Psalm 139:7-10

Like all the other psalms, Psalm 139 voices honest, human emotion in a vibrantly beautiful, truthful, and poetic way. In this one, the psalmist asked rhetorical questions. He was not expressing a desire to get away from God. Quite the contrary. He was emphasizing that if people wholeheartedly try to escape God's presence have absolutely no possibility of doing it, it would be even more unlikely for a person who is actively drawing close to God to wind up separated from him.

In other words, God is with you everywhere - whether you want him to be or not. This truth is wonderful news for those who long for God. God is always right by your side. His Spirit transcends the limitations of physical space.

Selah people' and friends this means that you will experience God's presence in a different way than you would the presence of other people. God's Spirit is kind of like oxygen. Once you learn about God's Spirit, you know he is there by the positive effects.

Even though you can't see him, hear him, or feel him, you know that as long as you're breathing, God's Spirit is present.

God's Spirit is the oxygen that allows you to be fully alive spiritually. You can see God's Spirit move through answered prayer. You can hear his voice through words of Scripture. You can feel his touch through his gifts of comfort, peace, and joy.

"Jesus is often referred to by the name Immanuel, I can hear my son Luke reciting this as he did in the Christmas play that it means, "God with us." Psalm 139 shows that God always has and always will be "with us."

May 13, 2010 ~ Are You Open Minded?

Join me today in opening your heart and mind to God's word...

Today's Scripture:

And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

And ye are witnesses of these things.

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

Luke 24:44-53

My father-in-law loves to do puzzle and my son and daughter have caught the bug from him. They will sit down for hours and just look at the box and the pieces and stick to it until the puzzle is complete. Let me ask you though have you ever put together a jigsaw puzzle without using the box? It can be very difficult to understand how these pieces fit together without seeing the image the puzzle should make.

We have to open our minds to see what isn't there yet.
In this passage, we read that Christ Himself opens the disciples' minds. He helps them to see how all the teachings, scriptures and experiences they have known come together in a way they never understood before. Now, it all makes sense. The disciples can finally see the picture the puzzle pieces make.

We may never be able to see the whole picture but we can pray to be open-minded enough to see God in the pieces.

Selah people' and friends do you consider yourself to be an open-minded person? Why or why not? Are you easily frustrated when the "big picture" in life, business, relationships, etc. isn't quickly revealed? Are there experiences in your life you can see God in only after it is over?

Challenge for you today:

Try putting together a puzzle without the box. See if you can train yourself to look beyond the individual pieces to see how the image reveals itself. Then look for ways God is revealing himself in unusual ways this week. I close out our blog today reminded by the tv show "The Locator's" host Troy Dunn's favorite saying..."that you can't find peace until you find all the pieces." Here is to you and I finding the pieces and the true peace that God has intended for each of us.

May 12, 2010 ~ Sudden Breakthroughs

Are you ready for a breakthrough? God can help!

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:
…the Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like the bursting out of great waters…"

2 Samuel 5:20

God wants to give you a breakthrough—a sudden burst of His favor; an explosion of His goodness. He wants to release His power in such a way that it overwhelms you and drives out your enemies! My son spoke to me this morning of feats of strength that he witnessed at a school assembly yesterday from a group Intense Ministries. When I was young I too remember being inspired by the original "Power Team" and its leader and evangelist John Jacobs. What is standing in your way today? As I try to explain to my son the power, all power comes from God. He gives us strength and perseverance to overcome all obstacles.

Maybe you've been praying about a relationship for years, and suddenly, things get into place. That's a breakthrough. Or you were trying to get a certain job. They said there were no openings; but suddenly, they call you back and you get the job. That's another breakthrough. Perhaps you've struggled with an addiction for a long time, but then something happens and it's not a struggle anymore. You see...those are all breakthroughs.

Selah people' and friends no matter what you've been facing, no matter how impossible things look, know this: the God of the breakthrough wants to visit your house. Get ready! Look for His favor and goodness. Remember, God rewards the people who seek after Him. So keep expecting, keep believing because the God of the breakthrough is ready to overwhelm you with His goodness today!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father in heaven, today I am expecting Your goodness. I am looking for Your favor. I'm trusting that You, the God of the breakthrough, are working mightily on my behalf. Help me to live a life pleasing to You as I wait for Your hand to move mightily in my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

May 11, 2010 ~ It's Time to Thrive

Are you reaching your full potential? Christ has big plans for each of us!

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers"

3 John 1:2

Friends many people today are living in "survival mode." If they can just make it through the day, if they just make it to Wednesday or Friday or the end of the shift they've accomplished their goal. And, there are times when circumstances can seem overwhelming. There are seasons that are more difficult than others. But God doesn't want us to just survive, He wants us to thrive. He wants us to prosper in all things.

How many of us are waiting until certain things get done to feel like we can finally thrive?

Are going to move forward when the grass is cut, a surgery is complete, this headache goes away, a bill is paid off, when that next project is complete...? You see brothers and sisters the list can go on and on and never end.

Selah people' and friends one definition of the word "thrive" means "to realize a goal despite circumstances." That means you can prosper in all things no matter what is going on around you. You don't have to settle for an average year; you can have an extraordinary year. You may be planning on just getting by, but God is planning on abundance. He's planning on overflow. It's time to get into agreement with God. It's time to walk in His ways. It's time to see your dreams come to pass. It's time to thrive because God has a plan for you to prosper in every area of your life!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:
"Father God, thank You for the gift of today. I choose to cast my cares on You knowing that because You care about me, You care for me. Help me to see the good plan You have for me so that I can thrive the way You intended. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

May 10, 2010 ~ The Report of the Lord

What is your source for breaking news...? Do you believe them or God?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"I have heard a report from the Lord…"

Jeremiah 49:14

Every day we get "reports" from the news, our experiences, our friends and family, and many other sources. We also get reports from the Word of God, which oftentimes, contradicts what everyone else is saying. That’s when we have a choice to make.

Do we believe what we hear in the natural, or do we believe the report of the Lord?

Selah people' and friends please remember that we serve a supernatural God! Just because we don’t see a way doesn’t mean that He doesn’t have a way. God can bring one opportunity across your path that will thrust you to new levels. He has explosive blessings that can blast you out of debt and into a place of abundance. What you’re facing today may be impossible with man, but with God all things are possible. Choose today to believe the report of the Lord. Stand strong no matter what is going on around you knowing that He has a plan to lead you into victory in every area of your life!

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father in heaven, I choose to believe Your Word above all else. I know that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf, and You will cause me to triumph. Help me to tune out the negative voices of the world so that I can focus on Your goodness all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen."

May 8, 2010 ~ When One Plus One Equals One

Marriage is God's perfect union between two imperfect people...

Today's Scripture:

The Scripture says, "So a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and the two will become one body." That secret is very important - I am talking about Christ and the church.

Ephesians 5: 31-32

When God created woman, he could have fashioned her out of a clump of dirt, just like Adam. One became two. Marriage unites the two back into one, while also providing the world with a living, breathing illustration of the relationship between Jesus and the church. No wonder God views marriage as sacred and Paul regarded it as a mysterious secret.

Paul (who was never married) provided principles for a healthy marriage by simply reminding his audience to remember what marriage really is. It is more than a cultural or a legal commitment. It is fusion that goes deeper than sexual relations.

Marriage is a spiritual union of bodies, hearts, and lives.

The Scripture Paul quoted goes back to the very first marriage between Adam and Eve (Genesis 2:24). It is also quoted by Jesus in the Gospels. When you find a Scripture repeated in several places in the Bible, that should alert you to the fact that something communicated.

Selah people' and friends Paul didn't stop with repeating God's original design for marriage. He added that this unique union mimics another unique love relationship - Jesus and the church. If you are looking for advice on how to have a good marriage, you need look no farther than how Jesus and the church were meant to relate, with sacrifice adn servanthood.

"Marriage is a perfect union between two imperfect people - and like everything else God created, marriage is intrinsically good. Don't study the world to see what marriage should be like. Instead my friends, look to Paul's word in the Scriptures."

May 7, 2010 ~ Women Can Change The World!

Are you one or do you know a true woman of faith?

Today's Scripture:

And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.

And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis;

And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.

And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.

And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.

Acts 16: 9-15

What is the point of the small story of this woman, Lydia? In a day ruled by men, Lydia is a rich businesswoman; the head of her own household; and a Gentile worshipper of God. In knowing these things we can speculate that she was intelligent, independent and faithful. We also know that she cares deeply for the members of her household because she wants them to hear Paul's message and be saved. Through God's calling this single person of faith the entire church at Philippi is born and through that church Christ's message is spread into Europe.

What a beautiful example of how one woman's faith changed the world.

Selah people' and friends do you think Lydia knew the impact she had in the greater world? Do you recognize how you influence those around you? Who are some examples of great women of faith? What makes them great? Who are some women of great faith in your own life? What can you and I do continue this legacy and continue to make and impact on our world and the young people who are our future?

"Join me in thinking about some of the "footprints" of faith you would like to leave in your life. How would you like to share with people? Make a plan to accomplish one in the near future. Also, as Mother's day approaches thank one woman who has helped you in your faith."

May 5, 2010 ~ Leaning On The Lord

Where do you place your trust?

Today's Scripture:

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5

If you are going to lean on something, the first thing you want to do is to make certain in can hold you up. The greater the risk, the more certain you want to be. You may not test the strength of every chair you're considering sitting on, but it's fairly certain that you will test the integrity of a bungee cord before attaching it to your feet and then leaping off a bridge. Your trust in the strength and reliability of the bungee cord allows you to lean on its ability to save you. It still may take a lot of courage to go ahead and jump, however.

Believing in God is all about risk and trust. It tells you to turn away from what you're accustomed to relying on - your own strategies for making life work-and instead to trust God implicitly, even when what he's asking you to do may not make sense from a human perspective. Think about what God asked of Moses at the Red Sea or of Daniel in the lion's den. Moses and Daniel were able to rely on God instead of on their own understanding because past experience had shown them he was wholly trustworthy.

Selah people' and friends every past experience was once a present choice.

God challenges you to choose wisely today. You can lean on your own limited understanding and abilities or on a God of unlimited power and love. Only one choice can take you where you really want to go.

"Put what you've learned into practice. List why you believe God is trustworthy, focusing on his promises and past faithfulness. Reread the list anytime you need the courage to lean on him instead of yourself or your own understanding."
