July 12th, 2010 ~ Seed for Sowing

Join me as we become sowers and help do our part to enlarge the harvest.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness"

2 Corinthians 9:10

God desires to bring you increase. He's provided you with seed so that you can invest into the lives of others. There is tremendous potential in any seed. A single seed can produce harvest of 30, 60 or 100-fold return! But that seed has to be planted. You can have a package of seeds sitting in a drawer for years and nothing will happen. But when you plant that seed in the ground, water it and tend to the weeds, that seed will begin to grow. It won't take long before the beautiful harvest is ready to be received.

Selah people' and friends remember, you have seeds of greatness on the inside of you. God has placed within you everything you need to be successful. But, you have to step out and sow those seeds. You have to boldly declare your faith and put action behind it. Keep an attitude of expectancy and go out believing that great things are coming your way.

Be obedient to His Word because those seeds you sow will produce an abundant harvest of blessing all the days of your life.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, thank You for entrusting me with seed to sow. I want to be a wise steward of all Your resources. Give me wisdom and discernment to be obedient with my words and actions. Let everything I do bring honor to You. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Your brother in Christ,

Patrick

July 7th, 2010 ~ Remember the Coach...

LEGENDARY BASKETBALL COACH AND DISCIPLE JOHN WOODEN DIES

John WoodenDisciple and legendary college basketball Coach John Wooden recently died at the age of 99. Wooden was born into a Dutch-Irish family in 1910 in Hall, Ind. He attended Disciples churches in Indiana and later in Los Angeles, Calif. He died June 4 in Los Angeles. From 1964-'75, Wooden's University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) basketball teams won 10 national championships, including 88 consecutive games over one stretch.

Wooden's family moved to Martinsville, Ind., eight miles away from Hall, Ind., after his freshman year in high school when his parents, Joshua and Roxie, lost the family farm. "He was born and raised in my home state of Indiana and was a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the church in which I was born, baptized and ordained, so I've been hearing about 'Coach' all my life," said Central Ohio story teller and supply preacher Jeff Gill.

“Sports do not build character, they reveal it.”
- John Wooden

July 5th, 2010 ~ HIGHER!

Take time to step back and look at life from God's perspective...

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I;"

Psalm 61:2

Everyone goes through seasons of difficulty. We all face challenges and trials. Scripture tells us that in this world we will have trouble, but we can be encouraged today because He has overcome the world and disarmed it of the power to harm us! Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. His ways are higher than our ways, and He has promised to deliver us!

So many times, people feel stuck in their circumstances because they are looking at them from a natural perspective. This natural perspective is limited. It's small. It's only a fraction of what's really going on. But, if we'll rise up to a higher level, we will see things the way God sees them. We'll understand His purposes and see the way to victory!

Selah people' and friends today, if you're feeling overwhelmed, Jesus is the rock who is high above your circumstances. When you call on Him, He will be with you. He will lead you and guide you into the higher places He has prepared for you!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, today I release every care and concern to You. Have Your way in my circumstances. Have Your way in my thoughts. Help me, Jesus, to come up higher in every area of my life with You. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Patrick

July 4th, 2010 ~ Follow Me...

Which way should we go...Whom can we find help?

Today's Scripture:

Jesus said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you."

Matthew 28:19-20

Discipleship is similar to an internship, where hands-on learning comes from closely following the experienced example of another. While on earth, Jesus invited twelve disciples to follow Him. For three years they ate with Him, drank with Him, traveled with Him, and prayed with Him. They listened and learned through his words and actions. When Jesus prepared to return to heaven, he challenged those men to put into practice what they'd learned by making more disciples.

Jesus' mission statement, often referred to as The Great Commission, is directed to everyone who responds to his call to follow him.

In the Great Commission, Jesus outlined how his disciples should go and help others grow. First, he explained the scope of their task. In going to "all nations," Jesus assured his disciples that no place on earth was to be exempt from the scope of God's life-changing love.

Second, Jesus instructed his disciples to baptize and to teach. Baptism is both a visual symbol of an inner rebirth and a way to connect new believers with a community of Christians. Teaching budding disciples to focus on Jesus' teaching instead of on Old Testament law assured new believers that they would live under the freedom of grace instead of the burden of legalism.

Selah people' and friends teaching and baptizing a new believer begins the transformation of a new believer into a disciple. However, discipleship is an ongoing process. As you help others mature spiritually, Jesus will bring you to maturity as well.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father we pray that we may continue to grow and know that helping others find out more about God is Jesus' command for everyone of us who follows Him. We ask that you help us to see how we can help other to see Christ more clearly each day."

Patrick

July 2, 2010 ~ Celebrate Your Freedom

I raise my hands to our Lord in Celebration of my freedom...
Will you join me not just on the 4th but daily praising Him?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"You have been set free from sin…"

Romans 6:18

This weekend, we celebrate Independence Day in America. July 4, 1776 was the day America declared independence from Britain, but the battle for freedom went on until 1783—seven more years. Even though the people declared their freedom in 1776, they had to stand and fight for many years before the British would accept and recognized the United States of America.

In the same way, we have to declare our freedom and be determined to stand against the opposing forces in our lives. We have to declare our freedom from addiction, poverty, sickness, and lack.

We have to stand and fight until we fully experience that freedom and peace that God has promised.

I love what our forefathers did once they signed the Declaration of Independence. They read it out loud in public. They published it in the newspaper. They spread the word. They continued to declare and celebrate even though they were in the midst of the battle.

Whatever battle you may be facing today, declare that you are free! Declare that you are an overcomer! Celebrate the victory that is on its way! As you stand strong and celebrate your freedom, you will experience His victory and true freedom all the days of your life!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, thank You for setting me free in every area of my life. I declare today that nothing can hold me back. I declare that I am free from sickness, poverty, lack, and addiction. I declare that You have set me free and thank You for freedom in every area of my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
