December 27th, 2010 ~ Brighter Until the Full Day

Snow day in Grantham North Carolina...just getting brighter!

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

“The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day”

Proverbs 4:18

TODAY’S WORD:

As a believer, God promises that your path will shine brighter and brighter as you seek His truth and righteousness in every situation. What is righteousness? Righteousness is simply being in right standing with God. You are made righteous by the blood of Jesus, and then you choose to walk in His righteousness by choosing to follow His commands. When you draw near to God, He will draw near to you.

John 8 tells us that Jesus is the light of the world. The closer you are to Him, the closer you are to the light source, and the brighter your path will be. With every step you take, your path is shining brighter and brighter. It’s going to keep shining brighter until the day you see Him face to face.

Selah people' and friends no matter what you may be facing today, be encouraged because your path is shining brighter. Keep moving forward — keep praying, keep believing, keep trusting, knowing that He has a good plan in store for your future.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, I know that You have a wonderful plan and purpose for me. I desire to be in right standing with You. Show me Your ways and teach me to walk righteously before You. Shine Your light in my heart and give me strength to pursue the path You have for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen."

In Christ service,
Patrick

December 24th, 2010 ~ Unto Us

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder...”

Isaiah 9:6

TODAY’S WORD:

When Jesus came to earth, He brought with Him everything you need to live a life of victory. He came as a little baby, but He was empowered with all authority in heaven and earth. When you make Him your Lord and Savior, He gives you access to all of His resources. You have access to His peace, power, authority, provision, joy and strength. He brought all of this “unto us” when He came to earth. Unto us a child is born...unto us victory is given. Unto us peace is given. Unto us provision is given. Unto us hope and healing are given. Unto us eternal life is given!

Selah people' and friends whatever you may have need of today, remember, when Jesus came into the world, He made a way for every one of your needs to be met spiritually, emotionally and physically. Surrender your life to Him and receive all the spiritual blessings He has in store for you!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father in heaven, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, so that I could be free to live an abundant life in You. I receive unto me everything You came to give. Fill me with Your love and show me Your ways so that I can know You more. In Jesus’ Name. Amen."

Patrick

December 8th, 2010 ~ Use the Gift

Do you use the gifts you have been given...

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Joshua 1:8

TODAY’S WORD:

Have you ever received a gift card that you stored in a special place for so long that you forgot you had it? Most of them have an expiration date, and if you don’t use it, you will surely lose it! The same is true with the Word of God. No, the Word doesn’t ever expire, but we have to take action and use His Word in order to receive His promises. Just like you exchange your gift card for the things you need at the store, His Word gives you the power to receive every promise He has for you.

As today’s verse tells us, when you declare His Word and keep your heart and mind open to Him, you are using the gift. You are opening the door for Him to move in your life. For example, if you’re facing lack in any area, receive the gift of provision by declaring...my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). If there’s a mountain in your way, receive the gift of victory that says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).

Selah people' and friends today and every day, use the gift He’s given you. Make His Word a priority and don’t let it depart from your mouth. As you do, He’ll make your way prosperous, and you’ll enjoy the abundant life He has for you!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word which is truth to set me free. I determine in my heart to set Your Word into motion in my life. Keep me close to You so that I can please You in everything I do. In Jesus’ Name Amen."

December 7, 2010 ~ Receive the Gift

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE:

“Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God”

John 1:12

TODAY’S WORD:

What an amazing privilege it is to know that when we receive Jesus, we become children of the Most High God! The scripture says we are “adopted” into His family. In the natural, by law an adoptive parent can never disown their adopted child. In the same way, God will never disown you! When you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you become a permanent part of God’s family.

Selah people' and friends privilege is a free gift, and when you receive this gift, it’s the beginning of a long life of blessing. Receiving Him means receiving all that He is and all of His promises for your life. It’s a process, but God is the one working in your life, and He promises to complete what He’s started in you. Your part is to keep your heart open and receive by faith every gift, every promise and every blessing in His Word. Receive by saying thank you. Receive by declaring His truth over your life. Receive by obeying the Word of God. Put the Word of God into practice in your life and receive every blessing He has for you!

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, thank You for the gift of eternal, abundant life. Today, I open my heart and mind to You. Have Your way in my heart and help me to receive the wonderful blessings You have for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen."

In Christ service,
Patrick

December 3, 2010 ~ For Your Own Sake

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins”

Matthew 6:14–15

TODAY’S WORD:

In life, we all have unfair things that happen to us. We can choose to hold on to the hurt, become bitter and angry, and let it poison our future; or, we can choose to let it go and trust God to make it up to us. You may not think that you are able to forgive because someone hurt you so badly. You might say, “Patrick, you don’t know how I was raised.” “My ex-spouse caused me a lot of pain.” “This friend betrayed me.” “I just can’t let it go.” But realize, you don’t forgive for their sake; you forgive for your own sake. When you forgive, you are taking away their power to hurt you. But if you hold on to that offense and stay angry, you are only poisoning your own life and disconnecting yourself from God.

Selah people' and friends forgiveness is like a door on your heart. If you shut the door and refuse to forgive, then God cannot forgive you. But when you open the door and allow forgiveness to flow from you, then His forgiveness can flow into you. Choose to forgive and open the door to receive God’s life, peace and healing today.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY:

"Father God, thank You for the gift of forgiveness that sets me free. Help me to truly understand what it means to forgive so I can receive Your forgiveness. Search me today and have Your way in my heart. In Jesus’ Name. Amen"

In Christ service,
Patrick

December 2, 2010 ~ Power Of Discipline

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

1 John 1:9.

TODAY’S WORD

My brother in the Gospel and former teammate Chaplain Captain Richard Holmes shared this morning..."What a GREAT promise, ALL our bad stuff forgiven. If Christ has forgiven you, you have a duty to pass on this good news to others. Take time today to help someone understand God's love for them."

This inspired me to want remind others that we need to step up and take action. We need to allow our Lord to cleanse us by putting our trust in Him. To do this we must have the discipline first to own our short comings and failures. "Own it and you then regain control!". For those who give themselves to the Lord gain life and those who cling to life in this world will lose eternal life and spend time here pointing blame at others. So today I ask you an important question:

Who's really in charge of your life?

If something goes wrong, is your first thought, "Who's to blame?"

Have you ever thought about why some people make more money, live happier lives and accomplish much more?

Do you know one of the most important success principles of all?

Brian Tracy is one of America's leading authors on the development of human potential. He said this, "If I had to pick the #1 key to success, it would be ...self-discipline. It is the difference between winning or losing; between greatness and mediocrity."

In Brian's book, The Power of Discipline...7 Ways It Can Change Your Life, provides you with a down-to-earth blueprint for success. Today, I'd like to share an excerpt from this powerful book titled "Self Discipline and Responsibility."

An excerpt from
The Power of Discipline
by Brian Tracy

Your ability and willingness to discipline yourself to accept personal responsibility for your life is essential to happiness, health, success, achievement and personal leadership. Accepting responsibility is one of the hardest of all disciplines, but without it, success is impossible.

The failure to accept responsibility and the attempt to foist responsibility onto others has dire consequences. It completely distorts cause and effect, undermines our character, weakens our resolve, and diminishes our humanity.

When I was twenty-one, I was living in a tiny apartment and working as a construction laborer. I had to get up at 5 a.m. so I could take three buses to work to be there on time. I didn't get home until 7 p.m., usually exhausted. I was making just enough money to get by, with no car, almost no savings, and just enough clothing for my needs. I had no radio or television. In the evenings, if I had enough energy, I would sit in my small apartment at my little table in my kitchen nook and read.

It was the middle of a cold winter, with the temperature at 35 degrees below Fahrenheit.

One evening, sitting there by myself at the table, it suddenly dawned on me that, "This is my life."

It was like a flashbulb going off in front of my face. I looked at myself and my small apartment, and considered the fact that I had not graduated from high school. The only work I was qualified to do was menial jobs. I earned enough money to pay my basic expenses, but little more. I had very little left over at the end of the month.

It suddenly dawned on me that unless I changed, nothing else was going to change. No one else was going to do it for me. In reality, no one cared.

I realized at that moment I was completely responsible for my life, and for everything that happened to me, from that day forward. I was responsible.

I could no longer blame my situation on my difficult childhood, or mistakes that I had made in the past. I was in charge. I was in the driver's seat. This was my life, and if I didn't do something to change it, it would go on like this indefinitely, by the simple process of inertia.

This revelation changed my life. I was never the same again. From that moment forward, I accepted more and more responsibility for everything...

Brian's book is filled with revelations that will make you stop and think...and then more importantly, move you to action. He provides the concrete steps you can take that will make the practice of self-discipline the key to your success as well.

OUR PRAYER FOR TODAY

"Our gracious Father, today we take ownership in all that is on us. We choose today to be self disciplined and know that if we do not change our life will not change. Lord we can be assured that hard work pays off and the burden of our sin can be lifted only when we take action and come to you in prayer. Lord continue to lead us and give us the wisdom to follow. In Jesus’ Name. Amen."

Patrick
